Controversy With Reggae SumFest 2K17 || Pt. 2 Alkaline
In recent video releases on various social media platforms, it is said that popular dance-hall artist, Alkaline, who's given name is Earlan Bartley, will not be performing at this year's 25th staging of Reggae Sum-Fast. This issue came about due to the law enforcement officials launching an investigation into Alkaline's recent video release for the hit song, Afterall.
The video shows the DJ along with other individuals "toting" high powered firearms and handguns in the video. It also shows marked squad cars with individuals dressed in police uniforms. And the uproar of the video is where it was seen that a female, dressed in uniform was performing sexual and demoralizing acts with the DJ in the video which deeply struck the law enforcement nation of Jamaica.
The investigation launched was to identify the individuals in uniform, the squad cars used, and as well the motive for the toting of firearms in the video. And as such, the reason behind the banning of Alkaline from Reggae SumFest 2K17.
Promoter for Reggae SumFest, Joe Bagdonavich, released a video stating that the ticket sales and flight reservations for Reggae SumFest just to see Alkaline is outstanding and would be a breach of contract to pull him off the show at this time.
He also stated that Alkaline was innocent and that law enforcement officials has no right to ban him from Reggae SumFest 2K17 and Alkaline will indeed be performing.
On another note, the JCF has issued warnings to Dance-Hall DJs to stop toting guns in their videos. The controversy of the toting of guns also includes hot artist, Dexta Daps from his "Bring It To Di Owna" music video.
